Coronavirus Notice

Last Updated: 22 April 2021

Further to Government guidance, I wanted to clarify our position as a housing construction company and business.

The Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government has confirmed that the housing market will remain open throughout this period. Therefore, it is business as usual for all staff, sub-contractors, and suppliers at Duchy Homes. Our construction teams will remain on-site and can continue to progress the build stages of our developments.

You Can Still Move Home

It’s good news if you’re planning to move home. As long as you follow safety guidance and are not self-isolating, the government has confirmed that you can still move house as the country navigates the roadmap out of lockdown.

The housing market will continue to stay open and moving house is considered a valid reason to be outside of your home or leave your current area. The government has published this guidance on moving home during the coronavirus outbreak.

As such, our Duchy Homes developments are continuing to progress and all available plots can still be reserved, exchanged and completed.

Are sales offices still open for viewings and appointments?

If you are looking to move home, government guidance confirms you can go to property viewings.

Our show homes remain open for viewings and our sales teams are available for socially-distanced meetings, either at our sales offices or via video calls, if you prefer.

We have implemented strict Covid-safe measures across all our sites, including temperature checks, the provision of hand sanitiser, the mandatory wearing of face coverings, enhanced cleaning, private show home viewings, and, where necessary, Perspex screens have been installed in our sales offices. In addition, all visitors will receive a pre-screening questionnaire prior to your appointment to check that no party is showing symptoms or has been asked to self-isolate.

Appointments for all types of visits are available to book online – visit the page for the development of your choice and click ‘book appointment’. Full details of our safety measures can be viewed on our Covid-19 information page.

Are there any restrictions on moving house?

You can still look forward to moving into your new Duchy Home, but the guidance states you should not have help with moving home from any family members or friends outside your bubble, unless it is absolutely necessary.

Removal firms are still able to continue working with the usual safety procedures in place, so you can still book professional services required to help you move home.

Will there be any delays with moving home?

It’s possible that in some areas the conveyancing process will be slower than usual, as some solicitors and agents may be operating at limited capacity, but the government has said that all professionals within the housing market can continue to work and visit properties, including tradespeople, inspectors, conveyancers and surveyors.
